American the beautiful…land of the free…and the brave. The words of our national anthem are now ringing true for people of faith living in the United States of America.
At 90 years of age, a WWII war veteran won another battle…this one not on foreign land, instead on his very own property in Virginia. Col. Van T. Barfoot (USA-Ret.) decided to proudly display an American flag, representing his love for and dedication to this great land; however, issues arose when his Home Owners Association decided the flag was “aesthetically inappropriate” and threatened legal action. “The American Legion is praising the decision of a Virginia homeowners association to drop its legal action against a 90-year-old World War II hero who refused its order to take down a flagpole he had erected on his property.
Col. Van T. Barfoot (USA-Ret.) is a Medal of Honor recipient who fought in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. This past summer the bona fide hero decided to erect a flagpole and display a U.S. flag in the front yard of his Henrico, Virginia, residence.
But Barfoot did not get permission to do so from the Sussex Square Homeowners Association, which claimed the flag pole was not “aesthetically appropriate” and threatened legal action if he did not take it down. That threat created a huge fallout as the 2.5-million-member American Legion, several senators, and President Barack Obama sided with the Medal of Honor winner.:

It seems like these private organizations and corporations, etc., are being used to gradually squeeze out all expressions of patriotism and/or reverence. The main answer will be a renewal of our nation. While I pray for our nation to be awakened, I also pray the same for the whole earth.
